How the budget will affect your business

The 2009 Budget Report was published on 22nd April.

Can the Transition Loan Fund help your business?

The East Midlands Transition Loan Fund (TLF) is making £5m available to businesses across the region. The TLF will provide SMEs with individual loans of between £50,000 and £250,000 for up to three years.

For more details about the TLF, contact Business Link on 0845 058 6644 or visit www.businesslink.gov.uk/eastmidlands/tlf

Is your business poised and ready for growth?

emda's flagship HighGrowth East Midlands programme is now seeking 60 applicants to join its 2009 Growth Readiness scheme. Designed to help businesses unlock their growth potential, the programme is based around 10 days of intensive coaching over a 12 month period.

Part funded by emda and the European Regional Development Fund, nearly 50 businesses joined the programme in 2008.

Supply2.gov.uk engaging the UK's business community

In this current economic climate, it is imperative that small businesses have visibility of lower value (typically below £100,000) contract opportunities to allow them to access a market which requires a wide range of products and services.

New regulations and legislation for business

Although regulations can come into force throughout the year, a number of key government departments issue all their changes twice a year, on 6th April and 1st October. To read a summary of regulations expected to come into
force around 6th April 2009, see our common commencement date summary page.

Recent months have seen the development of a significant number of government initiatives and regional business support programmes to support the business community through the current economic turbulence. Rather than continue to produce this publication monthly, we will be providing regular e-bulletins to keep you up to date with any new developments as they occur.

Alternatively, you can register to receive emda's weekly news e-alert or Business Link's monthly newslink
